The first game after Easter saw the boys welcome Whittlesford to Nightingale Rec.
The game turned out to be a hard contested game, with Lions failing to overcome Whittlesford.
The result was 3 v 4, with the Lions goals scored by Aaron (2) and Daniel.
Well played lads
With their first game following the Easter break, Owen’s squad were determined to work hard to burn off all that chocolate.
It didn’t take them long to get into their stride, and it was a great all round team performance.
The boys ran out winners 3 v 11, with goals by Sam (3), Kyle (2), Theo, Jon, Joe, Bradley, Antoine and Jack. As I said, it was a great all round performance.
In fact after that game, I think Owen might start feeding the boys Easter Eggs before every game.
Well done lads, it was a great result.

This apology is for Dave Bates, his Under 7 squad and all their parents and supporters.
The reason I am apologising is simply that, due to last weekend being Easter, and there were no league fixtures, I failed to do a results roundup.
Well, even though the rest of the Club had a fixture free weekend, the Under 7 players had to travel to Cottenham for a match, before they could demolish their Easter Eggs.
But the journey home was a happy one, after running out winners 5 – 10.
Well done boys and once again my apologies to you all.
On Saturday the boys welcomed Burwell Swallows to Nightingale, and soon got to grips with the game.
As usual, every player gave his all for the good of the team, and every boy gave a brilliant performance, resulting in a 9 – 2 victory.
On the score sheet were Jordan ( 4 ), Tom, Rio, Josh, Emmi and Joe. Man of the Match went to Joe, he was buzzing all the match, and I think he must have covered every blade of grass, he never stopped running and battling.
This was Joe’s last match for the squad for a while, as he is off to Japan for four months. But he will be returning in August, in time to join us at the Lions tournament. We all wish you a safe trip and have a great time little man, you can keep track of things here by visiting the Lions website, where you can read the blogs and read the newsletter.
Saturday 24th March saw the Under 10 and Under 11 squads competing in their respective KO Cup Semi Finals.
The Under 11 game got off to a late start, due to the referee turning up at Nightingale Rec., instead of Coleridge.
It got off to a slow start, with lots of chances squandered by the Lions, plus some great goalkeeping by the Fulbourn keeper.
The deadlock was finally broken by the Lions, and from then on their confidence started to grow, as did their control of the game. Finally running out winners 4 – 1. The second consecutive year that these boys have been in a cup final.
The Under 10 were at Nightingale Rec, where they welcomed arch enemies Teversham. By all accounts it was a great game to watch, with Lions running out 1 – 0 winners.
The Lions roar could be heard all over Cherry Hinton, from Nightingale to Coleridge …….. well done both sets of players.

This was a very hard contested match by both teams, both sides showing great skills and great play.
For me the two outstanding moments of the game were the Celts keeper saving the penalty kick from Poyraz, and Joe’s pin point free kick at the end.
The Lions goals were scored by Jon, Theo and Joe, with his amazing free kick.
Well done boys
